This article was in the local paper, but what is the significance in only asking to do it on this road?

KNOX TWP. -- Trustees granted conditional permission for Tidelands Geophysical Co. to commence seismic testing along township roads during their regular meeting on Tuesday.

Mike Brazil, contract permit agent with Cougar Land Services, again requested permission for trucks to "vibe" along Bandy Road with geophones and heavy trucks in the search for minerals below the surface. Brazil appeared before the board with the same request Nov. 1.

He said he spoke with Assistant Columbiana County Engineer Bob Durbin about plans for Tidelands to survey in the area this fall and in the spring. Brazil said Durbin said the county's only conditions for approval along county roads were receipt of a certificate of insurance and submission of a work permit request.

In response to a question about the primary complaints of similar work, Brazil said some crop damage was done and restitution made over the summer in Marlboro Township. "Most of the time, people are misinformed about what we do," he explained, adding the testing itself is basically unobtrusive.

Trustees approved a resolution allowing Tidelands access to Bandy Road based on the conditions of the company securing a $50,000 bond, submitting proof of insurance and completing a work request for the township.

Testing is expected to begin within a few weeks.
