I guess you'll be at the front of the line to "compromise" for a "reasonable" bonus amount. I think the oil and gas companies have "stolen" enough land @ $8.00-$15.00 an acre...and as far as oil and gas companies going elsewhere fo drill...I don't think we have to worry about that after Devon releases their production results from the Eichelberger well.

Devon won't release production data until next April. At least not officially. The Eichleberger well should rest for 60-90 days before it goes into production. Look for numbers to hit the airwaves this fall.

John, I disagree with you on issues pertaining to compromising too easily with these companies. After all, it's on our land they want to do this. I've struggled to maintain my property, I've had hard times and almost lost it once. I, for one, will not surrender my rights so easily so that everyone else could make economic windfalls. It's my turn for a piece of the pie,as it were, and it won't come cheaply. You weren't there to help me with my struggles and now you want me to give up all my sweat (and tears) so that you can make more money at my expense? I don't see it happening. They ain't goin' nowhere. I've got gold they want. If they can't meet my price, then it's not worth it for them and it's not worth it for me. They can leave, but, I'll still be here, nothing gained, nothing lost. Sorry you won't profit off me. The only ones I feel for are the landowners that got raw deals with these companies.

If these wells work then Devon will pay you handsomely for your land. They bought so much acreage for cheap they've got to have enough in their budget to pay serious dollars. The last verified number I heard was $1,000/acre and 15%. I've heard double that but haven't been able to get a sense of how real it is. Bottom line: don't listen to John and for God's sake don't compromise your home. Compromise is best left for arguments with wives, not for the land that you call your own.

Let's hope that Devon lost some of their "cheapness" and be willing to spend enough to make it worthwhile for all involved. I've always told the people I have spoken to that they shouldn't sign anything till results start coming out. Luckily, we aren't in any rush and are willing to wait it out. I thinks it's in the best interest of Devon to be able to come in to an area with people greeting them than cursing them.

You're right about that last part.  Chesapeake has certainly spread some ill will with the way they handle their landowners here in my neck of the woods.  It doesn't cost extra to be nice to people.
