Personally, I have had both good and bad experiences with landmen. There was a lady from Western Land Services, Linda, who was absolutely obnoxious. However, some of the guys from Gunter were very professional and friendly.
If you have had a particularly bad (or good) experience with a landman, please share it on Landman Report Card.

I am not sure if you would call Middle run investments "land men",but they helped me secure a lease with Antero. Yes they made some money, but so did I. If I were wanting to lease more land I would use them again.
Don't know if this is what you're looking for but here goes. The first contact was over two years ago. It was a letter in the mail offering $100 an acre. Don't know if you'd actually call that contact from a landman. A few months after that the first rep from CHK showed up. He was back a couple of times then a second took over his job. They were both very friendly and very professional-never pushy. When the last guy showed up the last time we informed him we'd joined ALOV. He was pretty obviously disappointed but he remained polite and friendly. ALOV was great except for keeping us informed of their progress. It took what seemed forever to get leased but in the end they did what we felt was a great job for a very reasonable price. As a caution-at first glance CHK's lease looked pretty good. It was only after reading some other leases that we realized that it was not and both men stated that we could not change the lease only add addendums.
