If Halcon Resources Corp is paying NCL Appalachian Partners $6,000 an acre for oil and gas rights in an unproven area then why are other drillers not paying landowners $6,000 an acre for their oil and gas rights ?
Only reason I can come up with is convenience of securing large contiguous tracts all at once.
Also, it would seem to me that if a Landowner bordered a larger tract it may be incentive enough for the new Leaseholder (of the larger contiguous tract) to deal with the smaller Landowner.
In other words being at the right place at the right time.
My guess anyway.
Try this $7,000/acre

BTW I've heard rumors of BlackRidge in Southern Ashtabula County signing a number of landowners in what's called the Magyar Group (and perhaps others) for 4.0 and 4.25 k per lease acre and 18% royalty for five (5) years. Some kind of escrow action involved in those deals also as I understand the rumors.
Did you hear anything on that score ?
Hope everyone's getting paid in timely fashion - even after you lease you've that to worry about.
Best we can do is get the money up front at the handshake (or as much of it as we can). That's what I'm looking for in a developer / land company anyway - won't do it any other way.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
