Anyone know if the new map detailing the oil and gas areas of utica shale in Ohio has been released? I read some time ago that it was to be released by the end of Sept.

I attended the AAPG conference in Cleveland earlier this week.  Ohio survey staff members indicated it will be released soon, it is currently being reviewed by the political overlords, (my opinion.)   As a geologist, I find political review of a scientific document to be generally undesirable as it tends to muddy the issue.

Steven, as a thinking person in general I find political review of basically anything to be generally undesirable, but that's just me.

Quite true.  I also agree with the general case.

They must be drawing straws to see who publishes the map.

Thanks Brian for the link.

What does everyone think of the new map? It looks like a bunch of rehash to me. Old info.

I like the USGS Utica Map, it’s clear and provide great explanations. I'm waiting on the ODNR to issue their latest and greatest. ODNR is late, it was promised by the end of September.

I’m waiting to see how EXXON/XTO will proceed with their well and permits in Belmont.
