Chesapeake to start drilling their first well (Pics)

chesapeake has submitted there application with the dep for the kirk hadley 8H  so they will probably start drilling ther first horizotal before to long,  anyone might see a drilling rig or activity they might post it should be located off wick rd on  the sancho creek rd area

well we will see how the utica  plays out...

 There is a lot of formations down in there wet or dry still a bargain for everything below,  here is a old story on a test Well  Roane County look at the numbers on it..  now thats a Well....think of a Horizontal  through that...

Columbia in 1999 had expanded its Trenton-Black River program and made a discovery in Roane County, W.Va., that was geologically similar to its wells in New York.

Richard Beardsley, vice president of geology and geophysics with Columbia, said the company’s last two wells in West Virginia were the largest wells in the northeast United States in terms of open flow rates.

In fact, the West Virginia discovery well - drilled to 10,300 feet on Columbia’s Vineyard Ridge area - demonstrated an open-flow rate estimated at approximately 50 million cubic feet of gas a day.

Bottom hole pressures initially gauged at 6,600 pounds per square inch - highly unusual for typical Appalachian Basin production - were sustained through the first month of production.

The second well in the Cottontree Field posted a natural flow from about 9,600 feet and was operationally similar to the discovery well.

Columbia has completed a five-mile, eight-inch gathering line connecting the new field to Columbia Gas Transmission’s nearby high-pressure interstate pipeline. Since the gathering line was completed the firm is averaging about 7.4 million cubic feet of gas a day from the field.

Bob, check out the the DNR Ohio Utica report . look at some of there maps, there should be some liquids in this area ,  http://ohiodnr.com/portals/10/energy/Utica/Utica-PointPleasantPlay.pdf

Tyler county looks like it will have some wet gas in the Utica how mutch they really dont know. I read these maps will continue to change as they drill more of wider area and get more data. 

I guess just lease the marcellus formation , wait till they get a  well drilled see how the Utica turns out.

Rick, nice report! I do not think the report suggests that there is Utica wet gas in Tyler County. Hope future wells/drillings prove me wrong.
