Hello folks,
I just got a letter from Caffey Group in Ft. Worth, TX, asking if we are interested in leasing our land in Sandycreek Township. A quick Google search shows news of a lawsuit against them in TX. Anyone know anything about them or anyone else been contacted by them? The letter references the Utica.

Do you know what companies are planning on drilling? Have they filed permits? In what specific areas of the county will the be looking for oil and or wet gas? In the utica shale or marcellus?

Myles- Are you talking about Nickleville, or is this another are that you are talking about? Chevron is the one that is showing interest down around this area. What have others been hearing?
Yes talking about nickleville down by cranberry 600 acre dairy farm. I heard it was to be veritical in the beekmantown.
I think I need to clarify a point I made earlier in my postings. I am not suggesting that the Washington PA lawyers engaged in any unethical or improper activities. Nor am I suggesting that they are in any way employed by the gas producers as employees or otherwise. It was not my intention to create this impression and if anybody regarded my postings as insinuating this, I apologize. My partner Steve Townsend and I strive not to impugn any other lawyer or other parties assisting landowners. Indeed, we specifically say this to landowners at all of our meetings. That is, we stress that while we offer a different service, we do not denigrate the services offered by others. And we certainly never engage in any direct attacks on any person, not even the landmen working as contractors to the gas producers. I hope this post clarifies my position.

I'm glad to see we went the lick wounds, swallow pride, avoid lawsuit, route. Better for business.
Further, you're well advised not to attack 'even the landmen', as in my experience they have forgotten more about oil and gas, than the lawyers who read a Utica Shale article in the Law review, googled 'fracing' and became O&G specialists overnight.
This is a pretty unique environment of varying grifts, rather entertaining no?
Dave; just for clarity. There was no double dipping. C0-X negotiated a lease in which the landowner received $3250/acre net and Co-X received a fee of $250/acre. The fee is paid directly to Co-X by Hilcorp because that was requested by members of the original Mt Jackson group. Many members said that it would be better to have the fees deducted before payment to the landowner because of tax purposes. Don't know what difference it would make but that is what people asked for and C0-X agreed. Co-X also liked it because that meant they would be paid direct and not have to worry about people not forwarding their fee after they were paid by the E & P.
co-x flip that lease yet? or are they going to eat it?

really who is(co-x) hilcorp going to sell to?
they got caught with no buyer or driller thats why they pulled out and got stuffed(mercer co.) into paying in the months to come we will see ....
why is there not a permit filed? water tested community meeting for future plans to grease the politicians....
they have no chance with the position they took in mercer
