My tax preparer says I have to file and pay income tax on my signing fee in WV even though I don't live in Wv. Is this true? Anyone gave any experience with this?

No Ma'am, I am not an attorney. I am a Landman, however, in Tyler County, WV, I highly recommend Dean Rohrig, a former Prosecuting Attorney. Also, if you do not live in Tyler County, the firm of Steptoe and Johnson have offices and attorneys in several WV cities, and they are very capable. In Parkersburg, where I live, I recommend Richard Starkey. All of these firms have represented land and mineral owners successfully, and I am certain would be helpful to you. If there are any questions that I may help you with, please feel free to contact me.
