Southwestern Energy Participates in Pinwheels for Prevention

Southwestern Energy employees participated in the Pinwheels for Prevention fundraiser last month in support of victims of child abuse.

April was National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Child abuse is a community problem which requires a community response.  Across the United States there are awareness events and fundraisers planned to help in the recovery and prevention of child abuse.

Southwestern Energy (SWN) recently took part in one of these fundraising events. They partnered with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania to raise money for Pinwheels for Prevention.

Pinwheels for Prevention is a nationwide public awareness campaign that puts a new spin on prevention. The campaign uses community activities and public policies to prioritize prevention right from the start, making sure child abuse and neglect never occur. The pinwheel signifies a transformation of awareness into action and has become the national symbol for the great childhoods all children deserve.

SWN employees had an opportunity to purchase a pinwheel (or two) at their April HSE safety meeting. Their pinwheel purchases will go towards helping abused children in Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties. In total, 200 pinwheels where purchased, which raised $800 for the Children’s Advocacy Center. The pinwheels where proudly displayed in the SWN yard of their Tunkhannock facility as a reminder that children are our future.
