- Our family property is in portage county Edinburg township and our Father was offered by Chesapeake 3 years ago $2250 acre and standard 12.5% - cost 10 year lease. My dad was 89 and did not need the money, He said no because he did not like or trust the land guy. A few neighbors said no also. My dad passed 6-15-2012 and is now owned by 3 of us. We are leasing farm rights and would like to see if gas leasing is possible. We all know the story of Chesapeake. Dad was right.
