Is anyone aware of any WV utica interest/leasing? Does the viable utica stop at the ohio river? The latest wet gas maps I have been able to find on line seem to show at least some WV counties might have wet gas, but current real info seems very hard to find.

Hi Bruce- My family has been approched by CNX to drill a deep well on our farm in Calhoun County(next to Ritchie. I too live in Atlanta Ga.. (Marietta) so I am also trying learn what I can on-line. I have spoken to a smaller driller in Calhoun and he indicates that the Calhoun region has wet gas (not sure if that is limited to just Utica?).
Melanie, The latest maps seen to indicate gas, maybe wet, in the northern part of Ritchie- the farther northwest the better. I am more in the middle, so I don't know what it means for me, but I am watching and learning all I can. ANY drilling activity seems positive right now. Four years ago, Chesapeake had made a verbal offer that I was ready to accept- and then their funding crashed, and nobody has come knocking since. Timing is everything.
Thanks a lot for that update. It is good to know that things are happening in that part of the county and not all in the east near Doddridge.
Day before yesterday, friend told me Enterra just completed a vertical Utica well in NE areaa of the county near county line with Tyler Cty. to the north and Doddridge to the east. Surprise, at least to me, is it's said to be producing quite a bit of oil along with the gas. Nobody knows, for sure, how much OR how much may be water. My friend's local contact, up there, has seen a lot of tank trucks running in empty and coming out full, every day. Don't think they'd be spending the money for that if it was just water.<g> Doubt I'll hear anything else for awhile. We live in southern Ritchie County and my guy doesn't go up there often.
Anyone from that area hear anything? TIA.
Correction: Operator is apparently Antero Resources Appalachian Corporation, not Enterra.
Is anyone in our group aware of any other forum/blogs/info for Ritchie Co and WV besides this forum? I don't feel like we are getting all the information available since there seems to be drilling in Ritchie and Wood Co., and not much is appearing here.
Bruce
I can't help with that, but here is a discussion on another part of this forum with maps showing the northeast part of Ritchie (as well as the panhandle and SW Pennsylvania): http://gomarcellusshale.com/forum/topics/stacked-pays-gas-in-place-... Maybe the Ritchie owners aren't well represented here. Don't know how to improve that.
There are several parts of the WV Office of Oil and Gas website that can help with current drilling and permit info:
For new and revised permits, by county and date (or API number if you have it)
https://apps.dep.wv.gov/oog/permitsearch_new.cfm
For map information of permits or by county and date
For new permits, arranged by county (since May); also cancelled and modified
http://www.dep.wv.gov/oil-and-gas/GI/Pages/WeeklyReports.aspx
To sign up for email notification of permits (where you can choose the counties you want to follow)

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
