Just received a call and then an email contract from the above wanting to cunduct a survey on our leased land. Claims to be backed by Hess and Consol. We leased with XTO, so sounds strange. Any one else receive a call or contract in mail. Allows 24 hour access to property and allows use of helicopters on property. Contract written for Belmont, Harrison and Jefferson counties.

well unless xto sold ur contract to them

They sent two agents to see me several weeks ago.  Wanted t o drill 28 30ft holes and put explosives in them. As I understood it the project was going to take several weeks in the middle of hay season and they were only going to pay 5$ per acre. Told them no way!  Not leased.

This sounds like a standard seismic survey using explosive charges instead of the "thumper trucks" that are often used along roadways.

28 holes over how many acres?

They sent a young man to us as well, I have 21 acres on Crescent Road north of St. Clairsville.

I thought it was interesting because we signed with Gulfport, and he told us Hess hired his company.  I'm guessing if they find what they are looking for down there Hess would be interested in buying our lease from Gulfport.
It's going to cost them more than the change they offered us to mess up my property.

He said they would "pay for damages" and cleanup of the mess they made.   Not happening.

Thanks, I believe that Stu probably has it right. The $5 per acre payment wasn't enough for us to do more than ask the group for their thoughts. Interesting times.
