Was in the courthouse on Tuesday, lots of people in the recorders office. From what I could gather they were researching current leases. Seems someone is buying a bunch of leases and having everything checked out. I wouldn't think it would be the Chesapeake to Cgas transfer, but I don't know what it was for.

Brent,
Did someone at the Recorders office tell you that leases are being bought? Maybe a company is getting serious about drilling and I know that at some point the drillers go back to confirm who truly owns the rights because the minerals may have been sold since the original lease.
brent, might be for the Clinton wells. seems they are finding different ways to drill the Clinton. the lease that a lot of people signed in 2011 didn't include the Clinton formation!
Brent, can you explain the Chesapeake to Cgas transfer. This is news to me and I just want to keep on top of any Goshen Twp. leases.
About a year ago Chesapeake notified most of the leaseholders in my area that they were selling the leases to Cgas. Cgas is a subsidiary of Enervest.
EnerVest made its initial entry into Ohio through four acquisitions: the purchase of CGAS Corporation and Belden & Blake Corporation in 2003 and 2005, and the purchase of assets from EXCO Resources in 2009 and Range Resources in 2010.
I believe Chesapeake just transferred leases back to Enervest for some properties and leases. I was in the recorders office the other day and I did not see any evidence of leases being sold by any companies here. It was not real busy either a few people looking through the deed books and computers.
I did notice that Carrizo has cancelled leases in Tusc County recently. Some were in Bucks, Jefferson, and Salem Townships. Do not know why they cancelled these leases. Anyone on here leased with Carrizo and been cancelled lately?

But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
