Are they doing 3D or standard sesmic? 3D requires the placement of more charges to get a location shown in more detail.

My land group attorneys advised against their agreement. They offered a one time low amount, with no end date so they could possible show up in a few years and do it then. Also that one time amount covers any damage they do so you can't go back and expect them to fix anything they mess up or destroy. 

Also, from what I've seen they are compiling data to sell to O&G companies. I would expect that they will profit greatly from this info with almost no compensation to the land owner. And could hurt the land owner if what they show isn't as good as their neighbors.

Someone showed up at my sister's house yesterday and she signed an agreement for $5 an acre to do3D imaging.  The $198.00 seems to cover all damages, I have a concern that one of our two parcels contains our farm house and that damage to the foundation in the basement could cost us more than $198.  The contract was for a period of 18 months.  Your thoughts?  Since I did not sign and get the literature I think we can turn it around.  Anyone have any experience with this type of blasting?

Yep.  That's what they wanted me to sign.  I didn't sign it.  Seems to me the knowledge they are going to gain and sell is worth more than $5.  Furthermore, he said 1 of those charges would give them an image of 9 sq miles.  Don't know why they need to get all the small parcels signed up.  The agreement was really generic.  He said they wouldn't clear any trees or anything, but there was nothing in the agreement to say they could not.  I don't need the $65 they offered.

Another thing...he said they would stay 350ft from any structure or water well.  This is not mentioned anywhere in the contract. 

Most leases were signed a couple of years ago with 5 year renewals.  I was part of the KWGD Gulfport deal.  Renewals are just a few years out.  Think about it...the data they gather could hurt you just as easily as it could help you.

I am back in contact with them.  I am removing the parcel with the house, we are currently negotiating ROW gathering lines on a narrow piece of property.  Also, we are riddled with old coal mines under us, I am afraid a 25ft deep explosive would do some real damage.

They told me 30 ft, but then again, the max depth is not in the contract.

Who is the contractor performing the work or at least doing the consent forms? What size of charge are they using?  What is the charge spacing and geophone spacing?

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company is on the consent form. The form says they have and office on Southgate.  He never mentioned the size of the charge.  He mentioned the spacing, but I don't recall.  None of that stuff is in the consent contract, so I guess they could do what the wanted.

I am in the northern part of the state. I would not sign until they provided me with maps of the charge locations and geophone locations. We also had in the contract about advanced notice before entering the property and things about livestock, fences,crops, and etc.

I wonder how fast they would run away if we added a stipulation that the landowner gets a report of what is under our property?  Hey, we are letting them on our land to gather the data right?  I want to know what's down there too.  Ha.  The guy did say it would give them a 3D image all the way down to 20,000 feet.

They would not tell me here. They information belonged to the company paying for it they told me.
