Ideas? Only one flare yesterday AM and no flares 6 hours later....

And no one seemed to treat it as an emergency. even the black smoke atop it was conservatively more than 4 times as wide and high as any I've seen. Could be the gel propane which we are told is retrievable - and more environmentally sound??? - shrug? - need more factual information.
