A Lack of Media Coverage on Shale Development

The media certainly gleefully jumped all over the recent Ohio DNR shale production report, announcing that the Utica is a dud, etc....I viewed the coverage as coming from hopeful anti-development reporters who spun the report in a (typically) sensationalist negative light.  Bizarre, since the state of the Utica "play" has been well known for months and months, if not years, and there was nothing really earthshaking in the report.  "If we characterize it as a dud, maybe it will go away..."  Kind of childish IMHO.   Getting the mainstream media to report on shale development without the agenda seems to be extremely difficult...hence the bloggers fill the void.
