Rex energy has been capping all of their old wells, and still are as we speak, and were leasing in western Warren County, PA last year. Does this mean Rex has plans for Western Warren County Pa in the near future??

I am watching them out the window right now. Capping my neighbors well off, and everyone up here on the hill. This could be great news for the furture.
That's great to hear, my man. Appreciate it.
Do you mean they are shutting in or plugging old wells? Why is this good news and an indicator for future development?
Yeah they are pluggin old shallow wells off, and that free's everybody up that was HBP so we can re lease.
That's right Jason. I have heard, but you know how that goes, that REX may drill an exploratory well in 2014 near Spring Creek. I'm not positive how true this is, you know hear say, Many landowners signed leases with Rex last year in 2012 for 15% and 1500 per acre, with deductions. Its a very exciting time hear in Pensyltucky, Jack....or I mean Jason. We'll see what happens
I didn't think Rex would be that stupid, to plug an existing well and expose themselves to releasing payments. They should be sucking the last drop of anything valuable form existing wells just to hold the land by production. If they are freeing already leased land, then their left hand doesn't know there even is a right hand. The only way it would make sense is in preparing to drill a big well, but I don't see how/why they would even need to do that.
Rex has so much land held by production around spring creek, and they have 4 more years on any new leases, don't expect much for a couple of more years.
I don't believe they are plugging producing wells, only wells that are no longer producing. Capping those babies off, and leasing more land. I agree, Jed it will be a couple more years, but it's coming!
The wells still producing will keep the land help by production. When Rex has their existing leased land drilled in Butler County and Southern Ohio and it is HBP, they will be coming to Warren County!
My neighbor got a letter in the mail saying " That they will be testing his water source, before and after they put in a test well ". I am not sure on when they plan on putting it in. If I am right, they only test water wells if the gas well is going to be within 1000ft of their drinking water. Every bit of information helps, feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Thanks
I think you are a bit off on the testing distance. My water was tested as a result of two wells going in, ones was about 1,500 feet away, the second was just under 2,500 feet. I do know that as part of the drilling permit process in PA they now have to notify all water well owners within 3,000 feet of the planned well head location. It used to be 1,000 feet for required notification, but that changed in early 2012. They were doing the testing at greater distance before that, mine was first tested in 2010.
Jason, Start asking around, see who else got the letters. That could be the first hint of what they are planning (like where the test well will be).

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
