Two new permits for Chevron to drill two more wells from the Brosius well pad 3H and 6H. Chevron has been very secretive about the first two wells drilled from that pad, But two more permits are great news for Venango county.

I thought only one well was drilled on the Brosius pad? Any maps or information on the direction of these two new wells and the production unit? I cant find any info on production of the first well.

No production numbers from PA DEP site. Probably waiting on pipelines. The fact that they permitted two new wells is very good news, they saw something in the first well to give them reason to believe the area is economic.

That is most interesting - far eastern Venango County, PA.  Has any one seen the well plat - what formation are they drilling to?

Range has a lot of acreage in Venango.

Fun one to watch.

Phil: The only info. I have seen is from Skytruth permits were dated 3/25/14. Chevron has tested the water of property owners in that area. In that area the Marcellus is wet, unsure of the Utica.

Marcellus and Upper Devonian both wet according to Gulfport, Range and EQT maps, Utica is dry in Venango County and especially that far East.  I don't think that there is much wet infrastructure there.

However, I learned from the Invictus pad that an on pad propane and butane separator is available.  You probably knew that.  Not likely that ethane can be removed on site.

So who knows what they are going for.  My guess would be dry Utica.

What is EM going for in Allegheny Twp, Butler county, PA.  The center of Allegheny Twp is only 10 miles to the SouthWest of the Chevron wells in Venango County

Regards,

Phil

There is a small stripper plant at Van, five or ten miles from the Chevron well pad but capacity would have to increase. The Utica well Halcon drilled in Polk Venango co. is wet 1231 BTUS but no pipeline for production.

Here are a few pages from the permits they have applied for for the 3H and 6H, The 6H paperwork seems like a page is missing that shows the trajectory of the well, but it does say Burkett as the targeted formation.

Thanks Brian,

3H to the PP/Utica, 6H to the Burkett - one serious lateral!!

Wet/dry Utica line near western Venango County, PA.  Good to see a 1231 BTU Utica there.

This is the first I have heard of a company looking to drill the Burkett in Venango county. My understanding is this is right on top of the Tully Limestone. Is this an oil or gas formation?

A bit perplexing for myself. I can see them drilling for Utica, Marcellus & Rhinestreet. But the Burkett? According to Range's powerpoint from last fall, the Burkett is about 10 feet thick in Venango. Maybe Chevron saw something that Range did not? Time will tell. Based on the Burkett's depth of 4,000-4,500 feet, my uneducated guess is oil and gas formation.
