I leased my gas rights to Chesapeake about 6 years ago for a period of 5 years...I didn't know there was a clause in it that they could renew the lease for an addition 5 years and turn it over to another company..i believe the gas lease is now owned by Vantage Energy ...so far no one has contacted me about gas royaltys.......wouldn't it be almost impossible for them not to be taking my gas being so close to my property....and shouldn't someone be contacting me concerning royalty payments?.....any info would be appreciated....thanks Ron

Coastal is a drilling contractor. A drilling contractor is hired by the O&G exploration/development Co.
There should be a placard at the entrance to the lease road that tells who the O&G company is, permit # etc.
Could be that the lateral being drilled may head away from your property.

Relax,Coastal is either caping a old well or drilling a vent hole for the coal company. nothing to do with shale gas development.
sounds reasonable...due to the fact they are drilling on Bailey mine property.....its hell to be this poor and this desperate!
About two years ago, a federal judge ruled that fracking which crosses onto a property that is not leased is considered a trespass. So even though it may be possible to put a lateral next to your property without a lease, if the fracking comes onto your mineral rights, it is a trespass. I am sure this ruling was going to be appealed, but I have not seen an update. An important consideration regarding a trespass, is that my understanding is you receive 100% of your mineral values, plus 3x that amount in penalties. However, I do not know how a valid calculation is performed that would accurately determine the quantity of minerals with which the fracking process captured.

You need to contact your leaseholder and find out if your land is included in the unit.....when you go to Greene county there should be a sign at the entrance to the well pad with a lot of info on it .....operators name well number and so forth gather that info then contact your leaseholder and ask questions it is very possible your lease now belongs to Southwestern energy;;;;;;;they bought 400,000 acres from CHK last December...I would contact CHK with your lease number and ask who owns your lease now If you were renewed last year by CHK I almost say you are now owned by SWN
the leaseholder is not required to notify you if they sell your lease and they are not required to notify you that you are included in a drilling unit til they send you division orders after the well is completed and in production

Honestly, if they are just across the road, why don't you just walk over and ask the site boss exactly what they're doing? Or wave down a truck pulling on site. Most times this has worked for me, if you're polite most of these guys seem to be pretty friendly. Just stay back from any of the equipment.
yea...the property is 50 miles from my residence......saw them drilling during deer season..plan on doing that soon
