Shell is doing a huge amount of drilling

Jim

Any news about those wells near slippery rock?  what about the Drake well? any news or rumors?

thnaks

Just lots of rumors.....oil....wet gas. The rig from the well between Slippery Rock and Rt 8 was pulled off the site last week. Should be fracked soon.

The rig and flare pipes are gone from the Mayberry well after flaring for several weeks.

Don't know where rigs went but they stared a pad in Mercer just off of Rt 19.  Maybe one went there.

I've never been to the Drake well, maybe I will check it out on Tuesday.

Saw a huge piece of equipment go by house on 108 yesterday'  Looked like a pipeline laying rig.  Don't know where it was headed.

I'll let everyone know when the rig arrives at the Palmer site off of Rt 19. I drive past it everyday.

JR;  was reading about yer name sake that passed away.  I didn't know that Larry Hagman's dad was an attorney for oilmen when he was young.  Said you'd spend a hour or two in meetings and all the oil men would be all smiles, pleasant and polite as could be. Then after the meeting you would notice your sox were gone and couldn't find your shoes. So that show he played the part of JR.

LOL. Thanks for that Jim. Funny stuff there. :)

i mean in guernsey county ohio just curious

Again, hear say, but I was talking with a technician for a frac water supplier, and he said after the first of the year he was told to get ready to head to Texas, as Shell bought some oil shale down there. He said they are tying the current wells up. He said he didn't expect to bbe back in the Mercer, Lawrence area until July. That is what he was told.  That probably means that the entire area will be unitized by June, ha. People can say what they want, but activity IS tied to gas prices, and they are low.

From looking at the amount of Shell permits I think they will be the leading driller in PA in 2013. They have built a number of large locations in northern pa (Forest, McKean, and Warren) and have permitted close to 50 wells. As many as 9 to 10 wells a pad. I thought I had figured out their codes as to what they are drilling. Someowe on the Butler site posted the actual well plat records for the Drake and Williams wells. Very interesting. In Butler besides the Utica and Marcellus they have permitted at least three wells in the Upper Devonian. (Burkett, Rhinestreet, and Geneseo) I was not aware the Geneseo ran that far south.

I am going to try to get the same records for some of the wells they plan to drill and find out what they are drilling into. I know we have the Geneseo and Rhinestreet. They are not wasting time. They have done top hole work on at least four of the locations and Nabors is moving a triple onto their site in Buzzards Swamp Forest County.  At the same time they are still permitting a number of wells down in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer.

James, Looking at the county map of Pa, you can see Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer to the South and Forest, McKean, and Warren to the North.  The only two counties between this group of six are Venengo and Clarion.  In your opinion, do you see Shell closing up the gap and and leasing more than they have been in those two counties?  In Clarion and Venango Counties we seem to start and stop, start and stop.  Any idea of why?  Infrastructure?

I don't have any information on what Shell is doing. They are too big to need to discuss their intentions for investors. I rely on Rex, RR, and NFG to tell me what is going on as far as results. I know Venango has a lot of leases held by production. Chevron, Halcon and RR seem to be active in the counties you mention.

I was taken back with the size of Shell's drilling intentions about the start of fall. I notices a huge block of permits in Warren, went to the location and it was huge. Then I charted out the rest of their permits and found equally huge locations. The best guess I have is that they intend to drill a number of wells in various shale to see what they have to support their proposed Cracker plant. Two summers ago one of their reps told the PGH Post Gazette that if they decided to develop what they had they would be moving in some more rigs.

I have high hopes for the Rhinestreet. I thought I had Shells' codes on their drilling numbers figured out. D for Devonian, M for Marcellus and S for Utica. This did not work out on the well plat information for the Williams and Drake wells posted on the Butler site. Once I find better info I will post it on the site. A local company PGE (one half of a JV with Exxon) drilled a couple of Rhinestreet's in Warren County. No news on the results but companies are leasing more land rights. I don't know what is the going rate.
