Does anyone hear anything about fracking in New York?

I am in Marcellus in NY and frustrated ! We have waited over 5 years while Cuomo awaits reelection. I am interested in any insight into if and when we will ever get fracking in NY. Appreciate any input.

I totally agree. And regardless if it doesn't happen now - it will happen someday. They already have alternative ways to frack - using a LP Gel - which of course isn't 'hydro' . I thought they were trying to get some permits going in Tioga county in 2012 under the 'general' gas drilling rights. Anyone know about them?

It's important you face reality about those opposed to NY Marcellus drilling.  They are not opposed to fracking per se.  Fracking, already proven safe in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, is merely a convenient way for them to express their drilling opposition today.  Thus:

If in future hydraulic fracking gives way to another fracking means, the fractivists will simply find a different reason to object vigorously to drilling inside what they view as their wholly-owned upstate NY "playground".

It is social warfare, we need to be strong and determined. If not, remember that's what happened to the Jews in Germany in the 1920s and 30s. I know it sounds improbable, but it was to them too. The enemy just keeps nibbling away, we must also.

I agree ! I think I'll go eat some worms : ) . JK - I think at some point these big cities should be made into districts like Washington DC. They shouldn't be able to hijack the entire state.   Despite all the negativism I will not give up hope. My gas is not going anywhere and someday it will be worth a fortune. I just hope it happens before all the poor farmers go under : ( .
