Hello, we live in Spencer Twp Guernsey County. We recently found out that Eclipse bought Oxford. We have a producing well from a lease from the late 1960's through Oxford, so we are hbp.Has anyone heard anything on Eclipse? Also when we were researching our mineral rights we found out that not only do we own the rights to our property( approx. 40 acres), we own the mineral rights to the land in the original farm- 144 acres. Our neighbors bought their properties when the farm was divided and thought the rights came with it, but nothing was ever transferred or registered at the courthouse. Has anyone heard about this happening?  Sorry post is so long, first time posting. Thanks

t_garr,

There were a couple of posts about Eclipse/Oxford on this site a few weeks ago.  I don't think anything has been announced publicly by Oxford, but speculation is that Oxford will keep the shallow rights and sold or did a Joint Venture with Oxford on the deep (Utica) rights.  There were also rumors that this involved about 220,000 acres and that Oxford is getting in the neighborhood of 1 billion dollars.  As far as the mineral rights on the subdivided property goes, I think it is generally assumed that if there is no mention of the mineral rights in the deed then they are included as part of the new parcel.  If a landowner wanted to retain all the mineral rights it would have to be excepted out of the deed in writing.  But I am not an attorney and there is a lot at stake here.  If there is any doubt you should definitely seek legal counsel.

I think your neghbors need to call oxford and get there back royalties .

The boy that services our well said that he was told operations @ Oxford would continue the same for landowners with Oxford leases until June- and he didn't know what that meant or if he would still be working the wells then or not for Eclipse. Also several of our neighbors have retained lawyers about their mineral rights or lack there of with no results. The farm sold @ auction in the 90's with one person buying the house (our house) and 40 acres and Bruner Land Company buying the rest .On our neighbors deeds it states mineral rights transfer but according to the ladies @ the title office, nothing was transferred.
