Nope, I went to their website a few hours later and seen it went from the 70's to the 50's lol
Wow. Down 18%. Probably a more realistic price for GPOR, but still. Even TSLA didn't collapse like this, and they make $0 a quarter.
Permalink Reply by Greg B on May 9, 2014 at 3:51am To me, Gulfport has been slow to acknowledge that they still don't fully understand the Utica Shale. This is not a simple mining operation. References to maps here show that even on the same pad production results often vary by 100% and much more in some cases. I hope that operators take a more methodical and scientific approach going forward. A dose of reality would be refreshing. Behind Gulfport's Earnings Disappointment - A Utica Shale Mystery S...
They're still experimenting with frac formulas, lateral lengths, and proper spacing of the stages. Their science guys haven't been at this as long as CHK so I'd expect their to be some growing pains.

Thanks for the link to your article.
Pangea's crash into the pre-Cambrian firmament has left the Ohio Utica a wild and wooly place.

Permalink Reply by The Hiker on May 9, 2014 at 9:59am Just listened to the Gulfport Q1 presentation and what a fiasco. Even if I didn't understand one word of what was being said, the pregnant pauses, ahems, hemming and hawing and stumbling responses to the analyst's questions would have justified the stock drop alone....but releasing information about the limited takeaway capacity by Markwest and the astounding revelation that they have been basically violating the PV/dewpoint production guidelines and (essentially) “gutting” their condensate wells, leaving the valuable liquids to fall out in the hole and plug the formation....egads. It all sounded like a bunch of rookie clowns trying to run an oil company. Paul Heerwagen was asked to comment about the Gulfport revelations during the Antero Conference call, and to his credit sideswiped the issue a bit, but did comment on the importance of understanding the delta P down hole. It's worth a listen. IMHO.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
