Has anyone heard any updates on the Bolton well in Belmont County- Somerset Township? Are they still drilling?

It has remained very busy.
Permalink Reply by Michael McGee on January 16, 2014 at 2:15am It looks like Gulfport will not be drilling Northwest laterals from the Bolton pad. They have requested permission to do water testing for new well pad northwest of of the Bolton pad and a plat that they included with the letter shows Southeast laterals from this new pad that will extend to the Bolton pad. They are also building a new road to this pad and have already replaced a bridge on Dog Hollow Rd.
Permalink Reply by catt on January 16, 2014 at 2:18pm I wonder why this was done? Where did you find the plat...was it on ODNR or just private info for now?

Permalink Reply by Michael McGee on January 17, 2014 at 4:30am I had my mom take a picture of the plat they were sent.
It is, or will be, the Brothers well pad.
Permalink Reply by Michael McGee on January 17, 2014 at 11:50am I did a little more digging on the ODNR site and Gulfport has submitted permit applications for two new well pads. The Brothers well pad (Brothers well pad on Google) and the Bahmer well pad (Bahmer well pad on Google Maps). It looks like there will be three Gulfport wells on the ridges of Dog Hollow.
Permalink Reply by catt on January 16, 2014 at 3:38pm Does anyone know why Gulfport would run SE laterals to the Bolton well from another well they are planning on drilling NE of the Bolton? Just curious what they are doing this for.
Permalink Reply by catt on January 16, 2014 at 3:42pm Michael, where do you think it would be located? Dog Hollow (by the ODNR maps) is where the Bolton well is located? The new well has to be on another road, not Dog Hollow. Am I wrong or just not looking at the ODNR map to see where the SE lateral would run.
Permalink Reply by Michael McGee on January 16, 2014 at 6:00pm I don't know the exact location, but it's supposed to be built on what we know as the Homer Reed hilltop. The Bolton well pad is at the east end of Dog Hollow on the southern hilltop. The Homer Reed pad (or whatever it will be called) is supposed to be at the west end on a northern hilltop. Close to Bailey's Mills.
I don't know when it will show up on the ODNR site. I'm not sure when permits are expected to be filed.
I found out about this because my parents live in Dog Hollow next to the Bolton Well. We've been watching this well closely because if they turned the laterals around, they would go under my parents' farm. Then they received a letter from Gultport early this week about testing water and it included a plat for this new pad. I've not personally seen it, so I can't be very specific. I don't know if they were planning northwest laterals from this pad or not.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
