Hawke Inc out of Barberton is advertising this property and another in Guernsey on uticashaleinvesting.com. They have taken a core sample in both properties but they have not drilled on this property and to my knowledge are not drilling horizontal wells. Most of the traditional drilllers in Ohio do not have and cannot afford the equipment for lateral drilling. They hire this out to Patterson, Nomac etc but must compete with the big boys for rigs and time. We own a farm one township south of Bedford and are long time friends with the McCurdy's ... the landowners the "unit" is named after. Also the gas line that Hawke discusses on uticashaleinvesting.com is a traditional dry gas line with gas for domestic use ... the McCurdy's have had dry gas for their home from wells for 50 years. I highly doubt this line could be used for anything coming from the Utica. My point is Hawke is NOT experienced in Utica Shale drilling.

Thanks Jim, actually the well will start on Bratton now according to the permit and map. The Horizontal makes its Utica entry on James L Bratton. I whole heartedly agree with everything thing else you state in the post. Damnest thing is James and Connie Bratton are leased to Devon Energy.

My take is this is a stunt by Hawke... look at the permit and plat map. Nothing makes since. I hope I'm wrong.

Btw, where at in Washington Twsp? I have a lot of wells there. Good people.

Unless I'm hallucinating I don't even see a permit for a horizontal.  I see one vertical permit to TD in the Trenton but that's it.

Seems fishy too me.

Yes there is only a vertical permit for the core sample they took.

Maybe Clinton Oil/Cgas/Enervest/Devon Energy/Sinopec found something interesting in the seismic.

For the record I know Hawke Inc is a joke, but how do they even permit to drill on a Devon Energy lease?

DVN could have granted them a farm-out.

Yea I guess so Dexter, but Hawke Inc is the "armpit" of drillers around here. It would make it "believable" if it was Knox Energy or Artex or somebody with some type of history around Ohio. Look at their website. The board looks like a bunch of Indians I talk to when I call a 1800 number.

Well Hawke seems like a front that's being used as the operator of this misadventure.  US Petroleum Exploration has some names I recognize, though read the bios and you'll see that they're mostly finance guys.  The actual industry people are all legit.  Sort of.  The one guy has worked for Chevron and Rex, which is sufficiently impressive, but he also worked for Zion Oil.  If you don't know who that is then look them up.  They are drilling for oil in Israel based on great geological data the Bible. But you can see the company is geared toward finance and private equity, which means they're out there raising money--my bet is under a Reg D filing--to fund the drilling program.

Yea, the Bass Energy gives it some legitimacy. Other than than that help me out Dexter.
My guys tell me that they have another site planed in Adams Twsp Coshocton County on another Devon lease. Pretty strange. Thanks Dexter.
