Here Is my opinion and expereience with Hilcorp/NiSource, and Western Land Services.

Hilcorp and Western land Services are unprofessional and I would recommend not signing anything with them. I have been waiting on my bonus payment from Hilcorp for 7 plus months now. I have received no correspondence from them and attempted to call them numerous times and email them. Whenever I do talk to someone on the phone I get a different answer on why the lease has not been paid.  Originally in September they said they needed more time to clear titles, one month later it was issues with the brinker storage (by the way I am not part of the storage or even close to it), and now they are blaming the columbiana courthouse. I leave messages with them and they don't return my phone calls. I was told last week they were going to call me on Monday and let me know the status of my payment, it’s now Thursday and about 15 calls and messages later I still have not received anything or the phone call back. I was part of a group signing and some people were paid, but most were not. This is unacceptable and unprofessional on their part, that’s my input and experience on HILCORP and WESTERN LAND SERVICES.  I am in Columbiana County and have been waiting on my bonus payment since May, In the Lease it stated they had 90 banking days to pay, that time was up on September 23rd  My title is clear and I have been patient with them thus far.  I just want anyone on here thinking of signing with these people as to what to expect, because I am not alone myself and 50 plus others are in the same situation.

Matt,

Something isn't right, Hilcorp here in mahoning county was nothing but professional. Who are you communicating with from Hilcorp ?  How many acres do you have?

I have 5 1/2 acres. I have been communicating with western land services that is  who answers the phone when you call the hilcorp new castle office.

I tried calling and emailing the Hilcorp office in TX,  I left a message and the call was never returned, also emailed the hilcorp office and never recieveded a reply.  I am at the point now to where i'm going to try and sign with chk or bp, but they are not paying the money that was getting paid when the Hilcorp lease was signed.  I posted the message originally so people will know how Hilcorp apparently is running its business now. Bad Business thats all I can say about them.

Matt. I am surprised to hear this also as both Hilcorp and Western as always been very good to work with.  I would suggest you get as many of the 50 people together and send a registered letter to the Hilcorp land dept.  Detail how many calls you made, critical dates, copies of letters, acreage involved, and any other documentation you have. A letter with dozens of signatures should get their attention. Send a copy to Western in Michigan.

Good luck and keep us posted

@ JIM: Thats sounds good, however I don't know any of the other people because it was  a group signing.  I'm to the point now where Im ready to sign a new lease with someone else.  @Fang: a letter was sent telling Hilcorp they had 14 days to pay, from the info i got from the lawyer was very few were paid and no explanation given as to why.  Basically they cherry picked the few leases they wanted and left the rest of us in Limbo for 7 months. I personally don't even know how that is legal for them not to pay, but when your big bussiness whats the little guuy to do?  I was told the money I will have in lawyer fees and the time it would take basically would not be worth it rather then signing with someone else.

What kid of group singing was this?? 50 people all at once!

Who did you leave a message with at Hilcorp? what email address?

CHK? You need to do some research on this one.

Matt

Have they filed your lease with the county recorder?   If they have, send their land dept  a registered letter demanding payment or release of the lease.

If they have not filed your lease, forget them and call BP.  They are getting very active in Columbiana County.

Hilcorp has very recently opened an office in Columbiana.   I believe the address is in the other thread to which you responded.   Might be worth a trip to visit!

They may not be able to help him but they may be able to give him better contact numbers and it''s a lot closer than driving to New Castle.

Matt, get an attorney, file an affidavit of forfeiture and find a new company with which to lease.
