How can we know the truth?

It seems that we've reached one of many times during the oil and gas watch where it is very difficult to discern what the truth is. On the one hand, we hear of Chesapeake's issues, with the issues of low pressure on Devon's Medina and Ashland wells and stories about Anadarko basing it's future plans on the results of the Mill Creek well in Coshocton County. On the other hand, we have a bunch of smaller players who are frantically active right now, which you would normally think is a sign of excitement and hope. How can we know the truth? Or, are we left to guess and speculate?

The information on the Devon well in Medina County came from an article in the Akron Beacon Journal a couple of days prior to my post on August 24th. I seem to recall it quoted a few comments from a Devon spokesperson. The issue of low pressure in this well, as I understand it, is that there is not sufficient pressure underground which will force the oil upward. Someone more knowledgeable could speak to this more articulately then what I have just done. This does not mean that the Medina well will not produce at some level but it has indeed been deemed disappointing. On the other hand, the Ashland well, also by Devon, was said to be so bad that it was likely it would be plugged.

Is there any new news on the Anadarko Mill Creek well in Coshocton County? Perhaps Ron D., who seemed to have some insight into that a few weeks ago? Stories have persisted that Anadarko's future drilling plans may hinge on the results of the Mill Creek well.

I believe I read somewhere that Devon was "hopeful" on the Sensibaugh well. I think companies like Devon will be cautious regarding commenting on specific wells as they have been burned before by saying something too prematurely. As I recall that was the case on the Medina and Ashland wells, which Devon has recently admitted are disappointing.

Clearly, Devon's almost frantic pace of activity lately must hold some important meaning. The same can be said for the pack of smaller players who have recently entered the play and are now moving around like "whirling dervishes."

nmm was a miscue and an accidental enter.  Didn't mean to imply or contemplate anything.  Did see some seismic testing in Stark co Louisville about 3 weeks ago on rt44 though.

is there any new info on the anadarcko well in mill creek? drilled? fracked? junk? I heard devon has a site there to that has been surveyed, but I heard they hightailed it back to texas.
why isnt there a go utica shale site?
