how do you know if your property could get a marcellus on it?

I was wondering if anyone knew what the criteria was on to get a marcellus wale on my preoperty? i have 102 aceres in pa and have 4 gas wales already on it

First off it's "wells", second where in PA are you located?

If you already have 4 gas "wells" on it then it probably means that another company already has your land under lease and therefore you won't get one unless that company sells your lease or is part of people already doing horizontal drilling.

I personally would just look at the PA Department of Oil and Gas and look in your county to determine the type of activity there.

Pittsburgh area?  Eesh, Allegheny Co. is not friendly these days and a lot of operators are avoiding it.

But, I agree with Jason's comment below - see what you can find on the DEP website.

I personally have no idea why people don't just say which county / township they're in. 

I have 100 acres in bradford county, wells township.  I've been trying to find the pipeline status to my well and I for the life of me can't find anything.

Hi Robert john...I first saw this topic and thought...what a great question...for i wondered also what constitutes determining where the oil/gas companies decide to put a well...so this is a great topic.   Sorry that some didn't view that question that way from their point of view...but I think many are just blog happy over time here.  LOL

From my limited experience of the situation...is that first the geological studies, the seismic testing, then I think the gas/oil company looks at the leases (which ones have no monetary layout for wells for not all put that into their contract...then the other clauses about size of unit, the location nearby for placement of roads and how much load can be carried....so many factors involved.   Yet they have put in so many wells in some counties without any pipelines yet that you have to wonder doesn't how they carry the NG downstream matter in the planning?

RJ...you might also find this pdf info interesting...I sure do.  It is the policy of Pa. in establishing what constitutes the permit acceptance of a well site/wells on state forest lands.  It takes a few moments to load.
