Starting this thread to post info related to Magnum Hunter and its various business components. First post is Triad Hunter opening office in Marietta, Ohio. Definately Magnum Hunter is spending in Monroe, Noble and Washington counties in Ohio as well as Tyler and other WV counties.

Hey S 1, "barging fresh water" actually reads in the article "fresh water barging". Means something entirely different. Yeah, the barge is sitting in the Ohio river, "fresh water". Doesn't really say what they intend to haul, just that it will be done with barges, on fresh water. No?
I think so. You really have to read between the lines with this one.
Yea think you are right here John. Greenhunter has been wanting to ship frack water by barge and have been working on getting permit from Army Corps of Engineers, but apparently it hasn't come through yet. Some people think that it is too dangerous to barge on the Ohio River. However, think about what is barged on the Ohio already.
Here is a Seeking Alpha stock analysis of Magnum Hunter. Also has some comments on Antero Resources with a value on their acreage.
Plus this analyst states that Guernsey, Noble, Belmont, Monroe Counties are among the hottest acreage in the country!!! Also Washington and Greene Counties Pennsylvania are right behind. And then there is Wetzel and Tyler County West Virginia.
Definitely worth reading if you follow Magnum Hunter, live in these counties or are about to lease your acreage--especially those four Ohio counties.

Great article. In the comments there is a post about problems that MHR came across while fracturing the Farley Utica well.
Has anyone heard what issues they are having?
ShaleRocks,
In the drilling process Gary Evans said they had a blowout of gas that took them four days to get under control and company from Texas came to take care of it. Perhaps that is what is being referred to.
Green Hunter Water designs new form of tank for water storage at well sites. Unveiled today at a well site in Macksburg, Ohio.

Audio plus visuals link to today's presentation by Gary Evans at an investor's conference. Twenty minutes in length. You will need to register to listen.
One of his comments was Magnum Hunter is going to drill their first Utica well in Tyler Co. in October.
Please make comments on this presentation.

Can anyone translate what he is talking about in this passage?
"We’re seeing a geo-pressured regime here like we’ve never seen before. So our first well, the Farley well actually blew out on us in a natural fracture, we didn’t frac the well. So we’re pretty excited about what we’re seeing. We had totally changed our drilling techniques in this region using South Louisiana Gulf Coast technology with high pressure, well heads, 10,000 pounds well heads, double BOPs."
"blew out on us"...what is the meaning?
The Farley well is critical to a lot of people. If it's good, it would indicate that the "string of pearls" (line of outstanding wells) extends into Washington county, thereby helping prove out Magnum's large acreage holdings in the south (Ohio). If the Farley is a winner, MH stock should see a rise and southern Noble/northern Washington will be seeing some action. If the Garvin 1-H well in Northern Washington (PDC) is also a winner, it's another data point to reinforce the value of the southern acreage on the "string". He's a good speaker. A very positive presentation.
Greenhunter has construction permits and may start facility as soon as next week.

Triad Hunter is into real estate as well as drilling wells. Triad purchased the St. Clair building in Marietta, OH for about 400K and will spent up to 1.7 million for renovations. Office space on lower level and 9 upscale loft apartments ranging from 1100 sq. ft. to 2200 sq. ft. Read the article, I would entitle it, "Texas Living Style Comes to SE Ohio.
Hey, Jim Denny, and Triad may I have a tour when the apartments are finished? And I am not joking.
Magnum Hunter announced during their Canaccord Genuity presentation that the first well on the "Farley" pad is now at frack stage #9 out of 20-26 stages. They should have something to say about it's output during the 3rd quarter results call.
He also said the Eclipse "Tippens" well is a gusher.
The "Stalder" should be on sales by the end of the year.
They are considering a midstream IPO.
Their 3 lines under the Ohio river are complete (dry gas, wet gas, liquids).
On a technical note: Gary Evans said that "resting" the wells in the south (northern Washington county, Ohio) was not necessary because the Point Pleasant was "carbonate with shale barriers", and had all the permeability you need.......
Thanks Hiker! I had been unable to locate that Canaccord presentation. Evans did another presentation recently, but haven't seen that one either.
Looks like great news for Monroe Co. with the Tippens well in Green Twp. and the Stalder in Lee Twp.
Yes, the three lines are complete under the Ohio River and have been for some time; this week it appeared that the three lines were being placed under State Route 7 above Sardis to make connection with those at river's edge; these lines will all lead to the Mobley Plant in Wetzel Co. WV. lol oil and gas progress knows no state boundaries.
As for the IPO is that an MLP for Eureka Hunter? Magnum Hunter goes back and forth on that one: first it was an MLP, then selling it off; so now its back to an MLP is it? Evans was placing a value on the pipeline system above 750 million. What is the estimated value now?
Hiker, any mention of the Ormet well? The overhead pipeline flags are very near to that well this week.
Hey, Monroe County what else are you seeing and hearing about the Eureka pipeline or the wells associated with Magnum Hunter?
Also if anyone looks at the current slides in MH presentation appears that all of the acreage leased by Eclipse is now a joint venture with MH. Eclipse looks less and less like a driller every day.
Thanks again Hiker, always good info from you.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
