Hello all, to start off this is an excellent site i must say, has been very informative as ive been reading it for close to the past year.  On top of the other questions, id like to start off with this one.  Other than NE  and SW pa, drilling activity has been sporadic at best.  Our family has land in western cambria/eastern indiana county.  Are shale conditions in this location suitable for profitable extraction, or will it be overlooked.  After seeing some of this data from the utica wells, im thinking the rush will be heading elsewhere. Chief drilled a well about 10 miles away this summer, but havent heard anything about it yet.  Currently we are dealing with Chevron on a parcel of property with them wanting to put a well on it, strangely enough they are only taking roughtly 200 acres for the unit and only running 1 horizontal.  Im guessing this is just a "test" well?

Yes it is a tet well. I suggest you look up Ramsey Barnett Studay on the internet and it will give you some idea about shale thickness in your region.

Is thickness the main factor that drives the capabilities of production?

It certainly helps
what is ramsey barnett studay ?

It is a presentation. Go the main page and open a discussion I started. The file is on there. Open it up and read if you want.
