EID-O's Shawn Bennett traveled to Cadiz, OH to attend a MarkWest meet and greet where the company told Harrison County residents and officials what they can expect regarding shale development in the area:

"In front of crowd of over 150 Harrison County residents and officials MarkWest hosted a meet and greet at the Sally Buffalo Park in Cadiz, Ohio.  The purpose of the event was to announce MarkWest’s plans for Utica Shale development in eastern Ohio.  The crowd was given a company overview by Chief Operating Officer John Mollenkopf and Cadiz Mayor Ken Zipka and County Commissioner Bill Host discussed the positive working relationship MarkWest provided when establishing Harrison County as their base of operations for Utica development.

The crowd was very interested in what Mr. Mollenkopf had to say as they know this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Utica Shale development for their county.  As I reported earlier, Harrison County is home to the 2 largest Utica wells in the state of Ohio.

MarkWest’s plans for Ohio are quite impressive.  The company is investing over 500 million dollars in eastern Ohio to develop natural gas gathering infrastructure and processing plants that will provide high paying construction, engineering and plant jobs for Ohio residents.

“We have an incredible amount of investment that is going to go into particularly Harrison County, Noble County, this entire area where the Utica Shale is very productive.  Right across the way in the industrial park, you may have seen some of our construction activities where we are building our Cadiz gas plants.  Those plants will be coming online here very shortly in the next several months.” – Chief Operating Officer John Mollenkopf

This is great news for everyone in eastern Ohio, especially the residents in Harrison County.  Following Mr. Mollenkopf , Cadiz Mayor Ken Zipka addressed the crowd discussing the importance of this investment for Harrison County."
