I'm unaware of leasing in McKean County, which is not to say there is none!  Fact is, I don't know.

200 acres is a pretty nice stretch of land.  Are you thinking Marcellus, or Utica . . or something else?

My best guess is that's Utica territory, where shale gas is concerned I mean.  There's leasing across your Potter County (eastern) border, of course.  That bodes well for your prospects.

Norwich Township is the absolute best location in McKean County . . . because it's farthest from the lake.  Course it's not the best for people that likes snow!!  ;-)

But Norwich Township might also be best for Utica shale.  Looking at the maps here, being furthest east and furthest south (in McKean County) looks to be a good thing:

At the same time, this post:

Less hopeful outlook

and others on that thread would appear to paint a less positive picture than those maps.

Seneca Resources and PGE (Pennsylvania General Energy) are your best bets in Norwich Township. Both have drilled a number of Marcellus test wells there and have the ability to do deeper Utica drilling if it becomes economic in the future. I wouldn't worry about any shallow prospects, as there isn't much interest in those right now in that area. This township is 99% a Marcellus and (hopefully) Utica prospect at this point.
