I would suggest going to the DEP (Pa state Dept of Environmental Protection) and see who is the operator of record. They may also have who is the oil and gas owner. Keep in mind that in Pa the term "mineral rights" does not include oil and gas. For you to own the oil and gas the original deed reservation must say oil and gas. If the deed reservation just says mineral rights, that means you own the coal, limestone, gravel, and other hard minerals but not the oil and gas.
If you find the operator of the well, contact them to see who they are leased with and paying royalties to. See how long ago this was done and was it a local driller or a major. Some local drillers weren't as determined to do a full deed search for rightful owners. You may need to have an attorney or title company do a full title exam.
