"Concerned about the potential health effects from compressor stations and other infrastructure connected to the shale gas industry, some local officials have joined a prominent physicians' group in urging [New York] state leaders to conduct [a study]. ...

The Medical Society of the State of New York, a physicians' association, noted compressor stations routinely vent methane gas, and noted chemical and radioactive emissions not only occur near well pads but also along pipelines.

The organization went on to state that the emissions include "dangerous mixtures" of carcinogens, mutagens, endocrine disruptors, neurotoxins, respiratory irritants and hematological and cardiovascular toxins."

Gotta lighten this up a bit  ; )

Omg
Maybe they should just outlaw all fossil fuels in the Empire State of New York they could show us country bumpkins how it's done.

Can you imagine the subways in NY being horse drawn as to avoid using hydrocarbon based energy to run upon?

I was thinking more like they should switch all the cars and trucks to electric and all from renewable resources

Mutagen?  what the hell is this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Oh my is the Old Purple Squirrel going to strike again.

How odd!  I just watched a National Geographic special that had filmed  great areas of ocean floor.  The studies following the film footage indicated that the "venting" from the ocean's bottom being witnessed was analyzed and identified as methane. The statement was made that the amount of methane rising into our atmosphere from this source was considerably more than what "mankind" was creating.

I wonder who has more time to study the Earth and its atmosphere?  Doctors?  Scientists?

I'd guess it would depend on who was funding the study.

THE SKY IS FALLING !

THE SKY IS FALLING !

Thanks for the (false) warning Chicken Little

These people want a study similar to the one used by Governor in making his decision to ban hydraulic fracturing.

Exactly who was involved in the study? Check out the link below
