Some definite winners. And some definite losers. Pretty much what we expected.
Marcus,
Certainly doesn't look as though the Trumbull wells fall into the winners category (except perhaps Kibler). Any possibility that the wells are being choked back and this report is an inaccurate representation of their potential production ?
Craig,
Thanks. There are several reasons for "choking back" a well. One of those is a poor performing well.
They probably don't have the capacity to handle them
this one is a little easier read........with per day avgs
Companies extracted 1.4 million barrels of oil, up 8 percent from revised figures for the prior quarter. For natural gas, the companies extracted 43.1 billion cubic feet of gas, up 28 percent.

Booger, thank you for posting the day dollar avgs. How did you calculate them?
Philip, if you click on a cell (such as a $/day cell) and then look up above the data, you will see the formula used to calculate that cell.
The spreadsheet originally contained production of oil, of gas, and the number of days of actual production. Booger then divided the oil and gas figures by the days to get the production per day. Then to assign a dollar value, he assumed a figure of $4 for gas and $100 for oil and multiplied them by their respective production, then added the individual totals to get a grand total per day.
I don't know enough about this to know if that is realistic or not. If it is, then one could continue by adding all the wells in your unit and then maybe multiplying the total by your royalty rate and also by your percentage of the unit to arrive at your daily royalty. Anyone care to comment on this?
Hope this helps,
Carl
Booger,
I took your spreadsheet and added: depth to formation and geo coordinates. Very time consuming, but I did put values in for the top 30 and others as well.
The top 30 have a common trait, the depth to formation is greater than 7800' ,except for two (one appears to be Marcellus). This is probably explained by the greater pressure at depth to force hydrocarbons out. Nothing beats mother nature and physics. Tight gas & oil clearly need the pressure to be a productive Utica well. Results from the Marcellus are from shallower depths, it would be interesting to try the same exercise with that formation.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
