Where on the ODNR web site can you find information on drilling units? I'm finding the ODNR web site is not very user friendly....then again it might just be the user!!!!

Click on Reports.  There'll be a drop down menu.  Click on Completions.  There will then be a series of inputs that, if you've never used it before, will look like it's in Greek.  If you know the name of the well go down to Well Name.  There are two columns.  The first gives you a series of choices (Like, Greater Than, less Than, etc.).  Set it to Like.  Then to the right of this, in the second column, type in the name of the well.  Hit enter and the results will come up.  Find the right result, scroll to the bottom and click on the link that says Plat Map (it may not be there, which is infuriating).  A PDF will open and you'll see the report that ODNR was given by the operator.

Best of luck.  It takes some time to get used to the system, so don't be discouraged.  Keep in mind that you can search for wells based on a number of different parameters, including formation, company, county, township, spud date, et al.

Marcus....thanks so much for the information it was very helpful!

thanks marcus, I tried and I was lost..

I also use the ODNR Oil and Gas viewer

The viewer that Philip is talking about is so much better

Thanks guys for the info.....found the info I was looking for. Also, how soon does the units show up with the info (plat maps ect..) after they are put together?

I wouldn't say that the viewer is better.  It is easier to use.  The database that Marcus is talking about is more powerful once you learn how to use it. I use both.

See I have a Mac so the viewer is a little more unwieldy for me, hence the reason I got better at using the database.  But I agree, both are very good and if you look around at other states you'll see that Ohio has a pretty good system.  Using the PADEP system is like performing brain surgery with a steak knife, in my opinion.
