Google I believe trans Energy and click on their news tabs and there Feb 2013 investors presentation If I rember correctly they where saying there wells in Marshall WV where 20 per cent wet? And made there gas like 1 to 2 more dollars over the price of dry gas. Like I said if I rember it correctly I read lots of articles all I can find related to the Marcellus and Utical shale. I looked it up again it is page 7 of 34

"Wet Gas" is a bit of an illusive term.

Wet Gas is a mix of Natural Gas (aka Methane/Dry Gas), Natural Gas Liquids and (perhaps) Condensates and perhaps some Oil.

What "Wet Gas" is worth is dependent upon the exact composition of the particular  "Wet Gas".

Some  "Wet Gas" is "wetter" or "dryer" than other "Wet Gas".

What a particular "Wet Gas" is worth would be a function of the relative percentages of its components:

% of Methane,

% of Ethane,

% of Butane,

% of Propane,

% of Condensate and

% of Oil.

 

If you know, the exact composition, you can calculate a value.

Not knowning the exact composition, the value might be somewhere within a rather wide range of values.

An excess of NGLs in the Marcellus/Utica have greatly depressed the current values of those commodities that make up the NGLs (just as the excess Dry Gas has greatly depressed the value of that commodity).

To compound confusion, the price that all realize vary on a "mintute by minute" basis.

Dry Gas, perhaps $3/mcf.

NGL's, perhaps $25/bbl,

Condensate, perhaps $60/bbl,

Oil, perhaps $90/bbl.

JS, Can you put dry gas in a per bbl amount so we can compare dry gas with the others compontants?

Thanks gentleman for the info. I have interest in a well that is now on line in Doddridge County WV and I have been told that it is wet gas. I have not received my first check as yet so really am curious.

If I might ask, who is the Operator?

Some companies have become very agressive in applying (questionable?) deductions ... in a manner that greatly reduces royalties.

It is my understanding that Chesapeake (CHK) and Consol (CNX) are leaders in this regard.

Perhaps you can soon give us an idea of what your Wet Gas realizes in $/bbl for the liquids and perhaps you can tell us what percentage of the payment is for the NGLs. The absolute amount you receive is NONE of our business ... but percentages and price realized as $/bbl for the liquids would be of general interest.

some people had posted back in August about there royalties in the carroll county forum about NGL's. A person on there said they got paid $1.14 a gallon for NGL's which would be like $47.88 a barrel. This person was leased through Chesapeake with a gross lease and royalty of 17.5%.

The well is in Grant District, Doddridge County WV, Antero Resources is the Company. Several more wells have been permitted in Doddridge as of late. Middle Island Creek is very active,as well as New Milton District.
