OREGON TOWNSHIP, PA - A very clearly worded sign stands at the entrance of the rough gravel road leading down to the latest Chesapeake Appalachia gas drilling site on Fox Hill Road in Oregon Township stating that “salesmen and visitors are welcome.”

Only they’re not, or at least not visitors who say that they are newspaper reporters.

On the two-acre pad, holding a recovery pit that is lined with black plastic, several large water tanker trucks, and other diverse machinery, stands a high rig shooting up into the air, poised to begin drilling for gas. A group of “rough necks” were working on a rig platform, in preparation to begin drilling.

Can't say I blame them. lol.
I stopped by and they greeted me and explained what they were doing. We watched for about an hour and all seemed quite at the time, they were preparing to change the drill bit, what an operation.

I can see CHK not letting them in it's the River Reporter, a paper that consistenly attacks any gas drilling in the Delaware River valley. The have printed misinformation, misled people in the area and supported extreme environmental groups such as the Damascus Citizens for Sustainability. I personally know the founder of this group but will keep my opinion to myself about the group.

I have been asked by the publisher of TRR for an interview but have refused knowing what I say will be used to their advantage given the bias reporting they have done in the recent past on drilling.

I own 300 acres on the Delaware River in the town of Hancock, NY and believe drilling if done responsibly can benefit all. I am also the Hancock Rep for the Upper Delaware Council.
We need many more landowners like you standing up for responsible energy development in this country, and particularly in this area.
