Any discussion on how these three compare with each other?

Any comments about the NEXT BIG thing , ROGERSVILLE SHALE ?
It's deep. Deep=expensive. At a time when commodity prices are killing operators it's hard to get excited about another expensive discovery. Adding another stream of gas into an already crowded basin is usually a recipe for death-spiral-inducing differentials. This play might have to wait a while before it yields any serious results.
Does the Rogersville Shale extend into western and central PA? If so, how deep is it located and how thick is the layer? Is it considered a good prospect for PA?
NOPE
The Rogersville Shale is another opportunity to lease acres for a buck then flip them to CHK when they come back around for more.
I think the lease bonus is up to $80 an acre now, by 2017 it may be $200. "You know there is such thing as a 14 point buck, but very few people have seen them", the response to you asking if the bonus will ever reach $1,000 per acre. You lease for $800 and the next month the bonus shoots up to $8,000 an acre. But what about the 14 point buck answer I got when I asked about $1,000?
DPS Virginny can show up to help the landowners as they did in PA and Ohio. "The bonus is nothing, the royalty is everything" they said. The bonus was actually everything.
The O&G company ceo can brag about the play then sell their leases for a few Billion if the landowners are lucky. Otherwise landowners get to be short changed a royalty for several years.
are mineral rights trading in the rogersville?
what are the price points for purchasing?
Dexter hit the nail on the head. Also, the Rogersville test well results I've seen were a bit underwhelming
Test results are what they want you to see. All 3 test wells in Lawrence County, Ky have now been permitted for horizontal production wells. I've been offered $1500/acre for my mineral rights. I'm within a mile of the Chesapeake Northrupp Heirs test well.
That's great. If memory serves, Chesapeake, Cabot, Cimarex and EQT were in the area last year on bit of a land grab, but I thought most of the activity had stopped. Not the case?
Was the $1,500/acre for a lease or to sell? I know leases weren't nearly that high a year ago. Most of the leases I've seen were in the $200/acre range.
To sell, even if leased which I am. I knew nothing about deep rights when I leased, had one shallow (2800') gas well drilled in the Berea sandstone then the lessee subleased my deep rights to Cimarex for somewhere in the $300-500/acre range for 2 years (of course I got nothing). I'm sure Cimerax and Chesapeake trade back and forth so I'm assuming CKE will end up with my deep lease rights.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
