Federal DOE just awarded $14 million to the PADEP for a project involving geothermal prospect in a deep Utica well. How will this influence the future for Utica development? Which gas company will be the recipient for this award and project?

If this project is successful does it mean every deep Utica well once reaching declining production is a candidate for geothermal development? Would a core or non-core area reflect where best to pursue development opportunities? Without the technology and expense to drill a Utica well with lateral, is it even feasible to think of a dedicated well drilled solely for geothermal development?
