To be fair and to give GG a little credit as a writer :

I may have to struggle and search (alot), but, I find more common ground and can make more sense in GG's written word than within the new Ohio Severance Tax Bill being discussed and within the Force Pooling and Force Unitization rules being inflicted on Ohio landowners.

Need to throw all of it out and quit wasting time.

They solve nothing and only create vast areas to litigate.

They seem to be nothing but legal fodder and designed to waste time and hamper development.

All of the above and following in my most humble layman landowner opinion; the old rules were fine and addressed everything on a "just and reasonable" basis - to coin a phrase.

Watsa matta fo you boys n grls ?

Watsa goin on ?

Yu no speak a da GG ?

I tinka yu needa go baka skoola !

that was more j-z than gg. hahaha

My own personal dialect; Euro-Appalacian-English.

Didn't realize I could write with an accent until today.

According to Mr. snort widley and Halcon, the whole area sucks and all O/G is going to abandon NE ohio and NW pa. It was all a mistake.  Glad I was'nt paying $75,000 per mile to seismic study the area, not to mention lease bonus money and everything else.  So easy for an armchair anonymous person to post "whatever" about the area for "whatever" reason.  Here's one:  "BP drills test wells and finds that everything below the queenston shale is really just cheese!  Damn seismic equipment!  Oh well - at least it's Gouda.  Have a great new year everyone!

WPXI, channel 11 reported this evening (Dec. 26)  that Shell is going to start demolishing the Horsehead site in Potter Twp (Monaca) early in 2014, although they haven't confirmed the building of the 'cracker' plant.  On line, WPXI states the info was confirmed by a Shell spokeswoman.  Everything is falling in place.  Great news for our region.................

Glad to hear it.  Thanks for your post.  I am starting to believe all the doom and gloom - NOT!

Maybe Shell just feels bad for stringing Horse head along for so long....and is just spending the millions for demolition to ease it's mind....:-")

It is likely simple economics. The deeper Utica means it is more expensive to drill to. And though there is great potential and thickness, there might be better economics elsewhere. These wells cost millions to drill and produce so operators are not satisfied with just some production, they need a lot of it. Wells in Mercer county need to compare with the cost and benefit of drilling wells anywhere in the country. Hopefully the local gathering and processing will improve economics enough to keep things going or generate renewed interest.

Well spoken Greg,

That my very well be what we all are speculating.

Thanks for your take on these matters.

Hilcorp has been very happy with results from what I have heard from talking to one of the people from Western Land services, they still are leasing in Mercer county and they are planning on becoming more active the first quarter or 2014. Halcon, Shell, Chevron, Hilcorp and a few other investors have spent a lot of money in Mercer County over the past few years and it might not be as good as some spots in Ohio, but it's good enough they are starting to build infrastructure and continue to lease. In 5 years or less I think leases in the county will be going for $5000-$10,000 per acre with 20% plus royalties, the gas and oil is here, they already have the results to prove it.

...ever watch the movie 'The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao'?...now where did I put that eggroll?...

As one light lights another, nor grows less - so nobleness enkindles nobleness. ...thought Vladamir Putin's thought/statement quite hilarious:

"Negotiating with Obama is like playing chess with a pigeon. The pigeon knocks over all the pieces, poops on the board and then struts around like it won the game."

(words that I've heard are that the strata is quite unique in Mercer...it just took them a little bit longer to 'get a handle on it' than was thought...but it's good - just needed to be better understood...) They put their left foot in, the pull their left foot out...they do their hokey pokey & then turn themselves about...
