Shell buys hotel near site of proposed ‘cracker’ plant in western Pennsylvania

Hopefully this is a further sign of the company's commitment to the cracker plant.

Royal Dutch Shell has added to its real estate holdings in Beaver County, Pennsylvania by purchasing the former Kobuta Hotel property near the site where Shell may build an ethane “cracker” plant, reports the Pittsburgh Business Times. While Shell has yet to confirm whether it is going forward with the cracker project, it continues to buy nearby property and invest in preparing the site in Potter Township, according to the newspaper. The company confirmed the hotel transaction, saying in a statement: “Shell continues to evaluate the proposed project and is taking the necessary steps to prepare for potential construction in the event a decision to build the (cracker) is made." Your title is a little misleading. Have you ever seen the Kobuta Hotel? It was a dump before it burned. It was worth $50,000 before Shell came around. It's funny they didn't buy it a long time ago for cheaper than the $2.5 million they paid for it.
