I hope someone better informed than me can answer this question. Toward the bottom of this Times-Leader article linked below, it states the Monroe County Commissioners approved "a gas and oil pipeline" for Statoil off Sykes Ridge Road. Is this just basic terminology used in the in the business, or is oil drilling still in play down the road? I was under the impression that Statoil is just drilling for natural gas in Monroe County.

Also, my family has a lease with Statoil. The company told me they are itching to drill in Monroe County, and this is something that is not on the back burner. Does anyone have any idea when the drilling will take place? It seems Statoil has received a good many permits as of late. Thanks in advance for any info.

Rachel, thanks for the info, always good to get it first hand from someone who is physically working on the project.

Old Woman, really appreciate the info on the pipeline and the two well coming in this October. Are one of these two wells the Wefler well near Sykes Ridge, or are these two separate wells?

It truly sounds like they are rapidly moving to get these wells drilled (I Can see why after the money invested.) As for my lease, it seems to have changed hands a few times since I leased it years ago. When the Statoil folks called, I initially was going to tell them the land was already leased until they told me they now had the lease and this sort of thing happens all the time. It really doesn't matter to me where the check comes from, as long as they are serious about drilling and they don't cheat me.

Thanks again for the info Old Woman. I wonder if the Wefler well will be drilled before those two you mentioned, since it has been permitted for a couple of months now?

Thanks again for the oil info. I wish I had paid better attention when I was a kid listening to the old folks talk about their drilling days. With an 8th grade education, they sure knew a great deal about Geology. My lease includes oil, but I guess I figured the drilling now was all about gas. Would be great to see both take place. Thanks again!
