Surveying Stakes

On my way home today I noticed a couple of surveying stakes on the side of the road. T-100 was on one and T-300 was on another about a half mile away. Does anyone have any idea what these are for?  There are two well sites within a few mile radius from the two stakes that I saw.

Fox ave. South of 172. And 172 East of Fox
