I have a free gas clause in my lease. I have been told that the gas is not usable for a number of reasons. High pressure, too hot, toxic, corrosive, etc. Does any one know the real skinney on this. If it is just a matter of adjusting the orfice size and pressure, that is one thing. The other matters are more of a concern. Is it possible to clean this gas up to the point that it is usable? Please don't reply unless you know what you are talking about. I've heard enough parrots.

Care to post any information about the program or sources?

I wish I knew more.  I first heard of a program listening to NPR radio news about a company that puts panels up and than sells the electric metered to the homeowner the same as a utility company, but I wasn't paying attension.  I was approached by a large storm restoration company to start selling the program I mentioned above to homeowners in the tri-state.  I went to the manufactures web site and did not find any mention of the program, probabably because it will be marketed thru the installation companies.  If you contact me off the discusion pages I will be happy to give you name of the company with the program.  If you need a new roof there our several integrated roof systems that are the roofing and don't pierce the roof so they don't increase the risk of leaks.  Retro fitting panels on your existing roof have so many draw-backs.  Even if it is a great system you are at the whim of the contractor for the quality of installation, if you don't have metal roofing the reflection off the panels if they hit any part of your house( in cities your neighbors buildings.............liabillity) it will fry your roofing or siding, decrease its life and void any product warranties.  If installed correctly this could very well be a win win for the homeowner but I question if we taxpayers will be big losers, at least in the short term.  There is quite a bit of profit being thrown out there to the instalation companies to get the panels up on the roofs.  I don't know what the cost of enough panels to put the home into positive generation is, but my guess is the panel and installation costs spread out over ten years would never be economically viable unless the world falls apart and energy costs skyrocket 500% within ten years.  At this point in time using the panel technoloy they are using I think it is a big hole they are throwing our tax dollars in.  I could not sleep at night selling a program like this unless it could stand by itself without all the subsidies.  I think in ten years current solar panels will improve so much that current technology will compared to putting a coal furnace in today.  It looks like there are some promising technologies on the horizon.  If you have free gas today I would look toward a small gas turbine generator that harnesses the waste heat for water and home heating or even bio-fuel brewing.  I never looked at the availibility of turbines but I guess someone in India or Pakistan sells them on Ebay.  You say you may need new windows down the road?  http://www.newenergytechnologiesinc.com/new-energy/new-energy-techn...   If this stuff works you don't need worry about leaks, dirt, snow, hail or clouds.  If it works we my need worry about our royalties.  NG would only be used for tranportation and industry.

Your welcome.
