Vindy Letter to Editor from YNGAir Support Group Links Shale and YNG Airport

In today's Youngstown Vindicator I submitted a letter to the editor (http://www.vindy.com/news/2011/oct/26/good-days-at-the-airport/).

In my remarks I talk about how the Utica and Marcellus Shale will benefit the airport and the region. I also mention how the airport will return the favor back to the industry. I would like to know what you think.

The overall point was good as this will have a dramatic impact on the airport.  But your math was a bit off. Drilling rigs take about a month to drill a well.(Sometimes they do core sampling in early wells which takes longer) Allow two weeks for tear down and setup, maintenance, and permitting delays.  That means each rig should be able to drill 6-9 wells/yr.

And there are more and more companies buying into the area.  There will be a huge impact in five years.

Jim, Thank you for the clarification and it is still a huge impact. I always thought I was good at math! lol

Looking forward to meeting you and Ron next week!
