They are about 99% done with our well pad in Harlem Springs. CHK told us the rig should be moved in around the middle of April or some time sooner if a rig becomes avalible. The only problem is, the only permit I have found to date is the county engineers. I have not found any for them to drill.

they have to have a permit before any dirt is moved. I live in WV and have a well pad with chk. The website of Office of Oil and Gas is where anyone can find out what pads have been permitted and also well permits. Not sure where you live put I would think every states as a web site for Office of Oil and Gas. Wish you well hope your experince with chk is better then ours. I sure hope you didnt sign a surfaces use aggreement with them.
Just curious Thelma, what issues have you had? My lease has surface provision but that includes a 25k fee due upon pad preparation. I understood when I signed that a pad was possible and looks like it may happen actually.
As for use of anything else, water, roads, fencing etc, and even site of pad, that has to be approved by me.
Is this different from your lease or experience?
Not sure you are sign with but are with chk. And they approach us after we sign the lease that we need to sign a surface use agreement. Which made no sense they already have the right to drill on the property. If you read it real close it was only to chk. favor. I was told by my lawyer not to sign the agreement. All i did was sign off on the access road and the pad sight. We did received the $15.000.00 for the pad site and access road.
Yes, surface use agreements need alot of scrutiny if you are going to sign.
I have not leased yet but I am considering several different oil companies. I have seen several posts on this website stating that Chesapeake does not always deal fairly with the landowners. Has anyone had a good experience with Chesapeake?
IF i had chance to do this over, there is no way i would sign with chesapeake. there is only one shot at a lease and you need to really do your homework. They wouldnt be my first choose.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
