Does the mined coal present problems in Belmont County?

I've been wandering if the amount of mined coal and associated voids concern the oil and gas companies in the eastern Belmont County area.  I live in southeastern Belmont county and mine voids are everywhere due to North American and CONSOL mining.  I was told that the deal Marquette signed recently (August 8th) with landowners in Jefferson and Harrison counties that Marquette wasn't interested in Belmont County.  Chesapeake's statement didn't mention the Belmont County area at all in their report and they have at least one well here (see link to the bottom right of the page).  Things are starting to heat up around here, but it seems like more should be going on than what we are seeing.  These landmen are promising huge bonuses and royalties seem to be just trying to get as many people as possible to sign on with them.

I'm not a expert on this subject but I am almost certain that drilling in previously mined area's is something that can be done.  The reason for this is Marshall and Ohio counties in WV have been mined under for years and drilling is going on all over these previously mined area's.  I would not put it past a land man or lessor to say it devalues your mineral rights.  On the other side of that, if you still have unmined coal under your land that is leased to a coal producer drilling potential would be less likely.  From what I have heard/read, previous leased coal has presidence over newly leased oil/gas.  As far as your concern over who is interested in what, take every word with a grain of salt.  The truth seems to illuded alot of the player's in this circus.
