How can you find out how many laterals are being drilled and in what direction?

There is a well being drilled just a 1/4 mile down the road from us.  It's southeast of us.  I recently saw on the Landex website that we are in the unit although we haven't been notified by the company yet.  I heard that they usually drill in a Northwest and/or Southeast direction but don't know if that is true.  Does anyone know if there are any resources available to landowners which provide information such as the proposed direction of drilling and/or the number or laterals and wells being drilled on a given pad?

The permit will be listed on the sign next to the well pad. You can then contact DEP and have them send you the well plat which will list the direction of the laterals. You could also contact the e & p company for more information.
Wow, Matt.  Thank you for your quick response.  Do you know at what stage of the drilling process the DEP is notified of the direction of the laterals.  The are in the process of drilling now but don't think they have started the laterals.  Do they wait until the laterals are done and then notify the DEP or do they have to notify the DEP first?  Don't want to go to the DEP if they don't have the information yet.
Any drilling that takes place has to be provided to DEP prior to starting. They have a completion report which will give the final depth, direction and length, should it differ from their planned permit. Each well will have a permit, you can check the DEP site to see if there are more than one for your location. Typically, they are sequential permits.
Thank you again, Matt.  You've been very helpful.
