Is A Freshwater Impoundment A Problem?

Hello

Our farm and our neighbor's farm are on the same dirt road. We have just learned the neighbor has signed up for a freshwater impoundment. It will be a little less than a half mile up the road from our home, on the same side of the road.

Does anyone know if this will have an impact on us. Will there be noise from pumps? Will there be much truck traffic? If there will be any impact on our family, how long will it last? It is pretty quiet here and always has been. I hope that is not going to change much. This is in Bradford County. The gas company is Talisman.

A CHK 'freshwater' impoundment DOES NOT( contain essentially used frack water.) I have hauled water for 2 years and have never seen 'flow back' water from the fracin process put back in a 'freshwater' impoundment. The only (chemicals and contaminants) you would find came from whatever is in the Susquehanna river itself..

I wrote this roughly fifteen months ago.  The impoundment is now in, up, and running.  It has not been a problem. Why not??

Well, I suspect the lower price for NG has a lot to do with things.  The impoundment is busy from time to time, but oftentimes there is no activity whatsoever at the location.  Night time activity, which otherwise would be a real problem, is at a minimum.  Things have really slowed down around here in all respects, and that includes the impoundment.  For now, at least, it is tolerable.  If NG were to go to $10, things might change.

Thanks for the update to this thread. Do you know what type of water is stored in the impoundment (river water, frac flowback, produced saltwater)?

river water. flowback and production water is taken to other locations for disposely and or recycled for reuse at an active frac site.

I'm not really sure.  Can only say it has not been a problem whatever it is . . . no smells, no dead wildlife or cows, no sick kids.  The impoundment is pretty accessible, BTW.  But that has not caused trouble.  I'm sure if it were bad or polluted water it probably would.
